Local Food News: BAFM hosts second annual salsa contest
The Burke Area Farmers Market and Community Memorial Hospital Inc. heated things up on Thursday, September 19th with the 2nd Annual Salsa Contest! We had 12 Entries with a wide variety of delicious salsa combinations. Forty-eight BAFM customers sampled each and every one (and often went back for seconds) before voting for their favorites in 4 categories: Best Fresh; Best Canned; Most Unusual; and of course, Hottest. Farmers markets = access
Last week, the Burke Area Farmers Market joined markets across the county in celebrating National Farmers Market Week 2024 . Cahoy’s Kitchen served brisket tacos, Jacinta Tietgen performed a live set, Modern Woodman offered customer discounts, and the Burke Public Library hosted a children’s event. We're Number One
This year, our market was named one of America's Favorite Farmers Markets! We couldn't be more proud and honored to wrap up the 2023 season this way. In September, American Farmland Trust and the Farmers Market Coalition announced the winners of the 15th annual America’s Farmers Market Celebration , a national event honoring the role of farmers markets that ran between June 21 – September 18, 2023. Markets receiving the most public votes are declared the national winners. T
