BAFM will hold in-person markets with changes for COVID

The Burke Area Farmers Market board of directors is pleased to announce that we will kick off the 2020 season with an in-person market. We are all disappointed to be rolling back many of the fun community things we hosted last year—there will be no food trucks, music, or market demonstrations—but we are excited to share a variety of excellent vendors, both veterans and newcomers! You can read all about them on the vendor page of our website.

We will kick off the year with our first Market on Thursday July 9th from 5:30-7:00 PM at the Burke City Park. We have to seriously impress upon you that our in-person markets are dependent on our ability to control the crowds. We expect you to stay home if you or a household member is sick. We will be directing traffic and enforcing social distancing. We will expect the vendors, not customers, to handle the products on their tables. Our vendors will wear masks, and we hope our customers will too.

You can stay connected with us (and make a list ahead of time) by following our Facebook page Burke Area Farmers Market and Instagram account @burkeareafarmersmarket.

If you have questions about shopping or participating in the Market as a vendor, you can always reach us by phone or email at (605) 830-5039 or burkeareafarmersmarket@gmail.com.

We are so appreciative of the love and support we get from the customers and communities that come to shop because without you, there wouldn’t be a Market. We know the Market will look different this year, but we are reminded that BAFM’s first season was 3 brave vendors in the middle of a drought. From those 3 vendors, we grew into a weekly, buzzing, community-gathering space, and we will be that again. For now, we will just be a different version of ourselves. We remain focused on our mission of growing healthy food, families, and communities, and we are taking steps now to ensure we can come back in a way that allows us to grow and continue to serve the amazing community that has supported us for nearly 9 years. Thank you!
